“I like that Nuun is light yet flavorful and REALLY works at replenishing my body so that I can run again that day or the next and be refreshed and hydrated. I sweat A LOT so I need to replenish but don't need all the sugar.”
Kristen was raised in southwestern Ohio and then moved to Colorado to pursue her career as a professional athlete. Colorado has offered her great places to train, people to train with and a wonderful team of people who make achieving her goal easier.
Kristen’s first athletic endeavors were in gymnastics and dancing, and she took up running her sophomore year in high school. She knew immediately it was something she wanted to pursue more seriously. Kristen set goals and worked hard to achieve them, winning the Ohio State Meet in the 2-mile her senior year. She went on to run at Miami University (Ohio). While there, she became the first freshman in the Mid-American Conference to qualify individually for the NCAA meet. After that came more personal bests – along with more injuries. After graduating in 2003, Kristen was frustrated by physical setbacks but determined to continue her running career.
Seven years later, Kristen continues to pursue her dream of being an Olympic marathoner. She has had the joy and honor of getting to represent the United States in the world half-marathon championships in 2010, and she can imagine nothing better than the privilege of wearing the USA uniform and running in one of the greatest events in history: the Olympics.
In Kristen’s spare time, she enjoys being with her husband, cooking and eating good food, Pilates, weight training, cross country skiing, reading, and of course being with friends and family!
